The hormonal intrauterine system MIRENA® is based on the results of the technological and clinical development program of Bayer Schering Pharma Oy. The development work is based on close co-operation with the US non-profit organization The Population Council. MIRENA® is the most important Finnish pharmaceutical export product and it is sold in about 100 countries from America to the Far East. Up till now the product has had about 10 million users. Applications of Bayer Schering Pharma Oy’s unique intrauterine approach are being further developed to address the needs of women at various life-stages.
The contraceptive implant NORPLANT® was the first long-term, subdermal contraceptive product in clinical use that had a hormonal effect. Bayer Schering Pharma Oy has developed the technology that controls the release rate of the drug, and JADELLE®, the new generation contraceptive implant, is the result of our development efforts. Bayer Schering Pharma Oy has worked closely with The Population Council for these products as well.
NOVA T® and NOVA T® 380 copper intrauterine devices are manufactured by Bayer Schering Pharma Oy.
